What is the challenge?
The Glasgow Community Plan identifies improvements to public transport as a major priority, noting that it often presents a barrier to the key objective of inclusive growth in the city by preventing access to services, learning opportunities and employment. A lack of good public transport can also increase and exacerbate social isolation and exclusion, affecting mental health and wellbeing.
As part of our BE-GOOD (Building an Ecosystem to Generate Opportunities in Open Data) project, Glasgow is currently working with selected companies to look at co-designing innovative ways in which we can better connect people and place through public transport to help address some of the challenges around Social Isolation.
