The Espoo Story – the city’s strategy – has itself been a success story in engaging and empowering the citizens and the local community in working together to co-create the city.
The city of Espoo is an internationally renowned forerunner in know-how and R&D. The heart of Espoo’s innovation creation is the Espoo Innovation Garden – the largest innovation hub in Northern Europe. Espoo Innovation Garden is home to thriving international companies like Nokia and Kone, a lively startup ecosystem, various cultural activities and sports clubs as well as a world-class community of scientists and researchers at Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. A culture of experimentation, collaboration and co-creation in science and technology, business and arts make the garden flourish.
